New Bill & Ted story to be published as comic in 2015

Readers of a certain age will likely hold near bottomless affection for the time travelling escapades of San Dimas High School metalheads William S. Preston Esq. and Theodore Logan, as chronicled in the films Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey and various lesser spin-offs. Though a third film has long been (and is reputedly still) in the works, a more immediate sequel has been revealed as forthcoming: Bill & Ted are back in Pog comic book form for a six issue run beginning in March 2015, entitled Bill & Ted’s Most Triumphant Return.

Per a press release released through Nerdist: ‘Following the time-traveling historic epic of Excellent Adventure and the turbulent life and death of Bogus Journey, Bill and Ted must now fulfill their destiny as the inspiration for galactic harmony! How can someone hate the Wyld Stallyns as much as the evil Chuck De Nomolos? With the power of time travel, Bill and Ted set their sights on turning a young 27th-century Nomolos’ non-non-heinous attitude into something most outstanding and metal!’

The mini series will be published by BOOM! Studios, who previously gave the world the comic book continuation of Big Trouble in Little China. Its main story is written by Brian Lynch (who wrote and co-created Angel: After the Fall with Joss Whedon) with art by Jerry Gaylord, but even more excitingly, it also features a backup story written by Dinosaur Comics hero Ryan North with art by Ian McGinty, best known for his work on Bravest Warriors and North’s own well-received Adventure Time comics for BOOM!.

Bill & Ted previously received the ol’ comic book continuation of the story treatment in 1991 courtesy of Marvel and Evan Dorkin, who wrote and illustrated a 12 issue run of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Comic Book following his well received adaptation of Bogus Journey.
