BookMachine Edinburgh (hosted by Bright Red Publishing) – Tonight!

This is our first ever Christmas party in Edinburgh, and while we can’t say for sure that it’ll be greatest publishing shindig of our times, we can strongly hint at it.

Amble along to the fine establishment that is Carter’s Bar on Morrison Street from 6pm tonight and join us for drinks, chat and other such things. Meet new people, old people, work people, feast on festive toasties and Tunnocks chocolate products.

We look forward to seeing you there!

This event is hosted by those fine (and mighty generous) folks at Bright Red Publishing, who will be standing a glass of bubbly and mince pie for all arrivals.

Sign up here, and find out who else will be there:

The Naked Editor shares all…

Daniela Nava (a.k.a. The Naked Editor –  www.thenakededitor.co.uk) is a freelance editor, proofreader and translator.

I’m delighted to have the opportunity to let everybody know what a great event the last BookMachine was, but I felt slightly alarmed when browsing through the previous articles in search of inspiration. One in particular caught my eye: ‘BookMachine – the most fun you can have in publishing with your clothes on [August party review]’. Now, considering that my business is called The Naked Editor, I felt this might perhaps confuse readers, but I’m happy to confirm that I don’t intend to contradict the other author.

BookMachine – the most fun you can have in publishing with your clothes on [August party review]

Lisa Goll claims that ‘BookMachine is the most fun you can have in publishing with your clothes  on’. How great is that? Here she reports from her first party.

There are a lot of things you expect from publishing events, BookMachine delivers only the best bits. New to this event, I anticipated a low-key affair. I got the shock of my life when I arrived to see the venue swamped by their popularity, with scores of their loyal devotees talking, laughing and drinking like it was doomsday’s last orders.

I can’t lie; as a newcomer, it was a little daunting, but everyone was so kind that it wasn’t that way for long. With a couple of nods here and smiles there, I was happily enveloped by a nearby group where conversation was fascinatingly eclectic. It makes a refreshing change from similar events where it’s all so cliquey, insular or socially corrupt that you leg it after the first glass.

Lively crowd, great venue and seamless organisation, by Laura and Gavin, go into making this one of the best publishing events I’ve attended in an age. In fact, I believe BookMachine is the most fun you can have in publishing with your clothes on.”

Book Machinations

As if you needed further convincing to drop by the BookMachine party on the 10th, here’s a review of December’s event from  employment guru, Sam Coleman.

On Thursday 9th December I had the festive inclination for warmth, drinks and merriment – in exactly that order. To attend to those said needs I skidded, slipped (due, in part, to the snow) and eventually arrived at the Albany pub in Great Portland Street where BookMachine were holding their most social of evenings geared towards publishing folks.
