Your online presence: Reach, Trust and Discovery [PREVIEW]

The Galley Club

We’re really chuffed that we’ve been invited to speak at the Galley Club this Wednesday. The Galley club is a social organisation for all involved in publishing and book production.

So what are we going to talk about? Well, there’s so much more to your online presence than simply running a Twitter account, setting up a Linkedin page and building a Website.

We think the most important elements are reach, trust and discovery and will be exploring all three in this talk, whilst giving you some practical pointers to take away.  The evening will start with food and drink (included) and the opportunity to mingle other publishing folks, right in the heart of the city …. can you think of a better way to spend your Wednesday evening? (answers on a postcard please…)

Here are some snippets of what we’ll explore:

Reach

If you’re not sure what your reach is you’d better check out your Klout score. Klout is increasingly becoming the measure of your social influence and generates a score for you based on your re-tweets, shares and likes across your social networks. Some publishers have been using Klout to kick start their marketing campaigns. Definitely an area to keep an eye on.

Trust

As people spend more of their time online, the need to identify who to trust will increase. Great online marketing can help a trusted publishing brand grow and reach new customers. Similarly, a bad name will spread like a game of tag in a kids playground. It’s important to keep an eye on your brand name and develop ways to build up trust.

Discovery

80% of people do research online before making a purchasing decision. There are three main ways that people can reach your Website – directly keying in your URL into their browser, by running a query via a search engine and by your social media channels. For great SEO you need to call in the experts, however there are a number of things you can do for free in the meantime …

We’ll also be giving an update on BookMachine.me – the new discovery tool for the people who make publishing happen.

We really hope you can join us on Wednesday evening. Just show up or email Derek ([email protected]) for further information.
