Announcing BookMachine meets…

Today BookMachine launches BookMachine meets…, a brand new event series designed to explore the strategies of some of the top publishing houses, in order to find out what makes them unique and successful.

The first publisher to partner with BookMachine on this new initiative is Jessica Kingsley Publishers (JKP). BookMachine meets Jessica Kingsley Publishers will take place on Thursday 30th May from 6.30pm on the top floor of Carmelite House. 
 
Speakers include Sanphy Thomas who joined JKP as Managing Director in October 2018 and Andrew James (Senior Commissioning Editor), who featured on The Bookseller’s list of Rising Stars 2018 and is co-chair of the Hachette Pride Network. The other panellists are Lisa Clark (Editorial Director), Sarah Plows (Marketing Manager) who featured on The Bookseller’s list of Rising Stars 2017, Lily Bowden (Senior Publicity and Marketing Executive) and Pippa Adams (Special Sales and Rights Assistant). 
 
Laura Summers, BookMachine co-founder says: “This event series will offer our community of publishing professionals insight into how others manage their work – whether that be list strategy, marketing approaches or pitching their books. The goal of all our events is to help people to excel at their jobs. We think this event series will fill in some of the gaps – it will showcase areas of the industry which might not ordinarily get discussed and also highlighting how different departments work together.”

Following this first event, BookMachine will announce a date for BookMachine meets Bloomsbury Publishing, which will take place at Bloomsbury head offices after the summer.
