Speakers who contributed to the Blook – Seonaid Macleod (Campaigns Manager, The Publishers Association), Jasmin Kirkbride (Freelance Journalist, Editor & Writer) and Alison Jones (Director, Practical Inspiration Publishing) – have chosen images that, for them, represent a snapshot of the current publishing industry. They have five minutes each to explain their choice of image and what it means to them.
Alison Jones (@bookstothesky), Director of Practical Inspiration Publishing, is a book coach and publishing partner for businesses and organizations and host of The Extraordinary Business Book Club podcast. A member of the IPG board, Affiliate with Maverick Publishing Specialists and Associate Lecturer at Brookes University, she also provides executive coaching, consultancy and training services to publishers. www.alisonjones.com.
Seonaid MacLeod (@SeonaidMacLeod) is Campaigns Manager at The Publishers Association, focusing on industry-wide campaigns, including Reading for Pleasure, diversity, and workforce development, and also works with publisher relationships. Before The PA, she was Rights and Contracts Executive at Mainstream Publishing and worked there until September 2013, when she joined The PA to engage in wider industry issues.
Jasmin Kirkbride is a freelance writer, editor and journalist, with a byline at BookBrunch. Her fiction has been featured in various magazines and she has written two inspirational self-help books for Summersdale (August 2016). With a background in software and web design, Jasmin has worked in publishing for just over two years, in digital and editorial departments.
