About the course

This 3-week online course will cover the absolute latest in Facebook marketing. If you are familiar with Facebook but need to keep abreast with the changes we have seen in 2019 (algorithmic and technical), then this course is for you.

The online format will fit into your busy working life. Join the session during your lunch break (13.00 – 14.00) for three consecutive weeks. If you get called into an urgent meeting you will be able to watch the recording afterwards.


Course Overview

Week 1: Facebook changes in 2019 

Monday 25th November (13.00 – 14.00)

This live session will be presented by Abby Coften and facilitated by Laura Summers.

  • Changes to Facebook algorithms and how to make it work for you
  • Making an impact with Facebook’s new features 
  • Facebook Ads in a nutshell – creating a Facebook ad using the key features including how to set objectives, choose ad types, create messaging, and understand placement and budgeting

Week 2: Planning your 2020 campaigns

Monday 2nd December (13.00 – 14.00)

This live session will be presented by Abby Coften and facilitated by Laura Summers.

  • Facebook ads – measuring campaign success and reporting tools
  • Using Facebook Insights for organic metrics
  • Facebook Predictions and Trends for 2020

Week 3: Questions and connections

Monday 9th December (13.00 – 14.00)

This is an interactive session in which course members can ask questions and update the group on their progress

  • Ask questions about your specific campaigns/lists
  • Hear questions from others on the course 
  • Learn from other publishers

This course has been designed by BookMachine Works (agency), specialists in the publishing industry. We are publishing people, and understand the opportunities and limitations faced by publishers when selling books online.


Course Trainer

Abby is a CIM-qualified digital marketer and trainer with over 15 years’ experience leading and implementing successful campaigns for trade and educational publishers and has the E-marketeers Certificate in Facebook Sponsored Advertising.

She has initiated campaigns for a wide range of high-profile titles and series including BFI Books, The RSC Shakespeare, Teach Yourself Series, Financial Times Business as well as English Language Teaching, Academic and Non-Fiction Consumer bestsellers.
