SUMMARY:Members' Hub: Coaching\, advice and discussion (May session)
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Wednesday 5th May\, 2–3pm BST (9–10am EST / 3–4pm CET) for the next Members’ Hub! \n  \nThese sessions are no-pressure\, friendly spaces for BookMachine members who would like to take part in peer-to-peer coaching\, advice and discussion each month. \n  \nNo need to bring big ideas to the table or have anything perfectly thought out. Similar to our popular end-of-month Members’ Mixers\, it’s all about making connections remotely with publishing people\, whilst having open discussions about where you’re at and what you would like to achieve professionally. Crucially\, you can get feedback and support\, share thoughts with each other and feel more motivated. \n  \nPlease RSVP below for the Zoom link\, and be sure to read the ground rules below so you know how the session will work. We look forward to seeing you there! \n  \nWhat our members think\n\n\n\n“It was great! The best thing for me is meeting other enthusiastic people! … I would definitely be interested in whatever else you decide to put on.” Claire Philip \n“I really enjoyed how structured it was. We each had our 15 minutes\, we explained our issue/idea and then got/gave feedback. It was so good to have a sounding board for my ideas\, as well as to be able to feel useful to others by giving my own advice and ideas to help them. It was a great jumping off point for a lot of ideas\, but also some valuable new contacts in the publishing world.” Sam Ritchter \n“The meeting allowed everyone to share their ideas and ventures in a conducive\, creative and supportive setting. I came away fully charged with enthusiasm – ready for the next challenge.” Anne Stairmand \n\n\n\n\n\nWho is the Members’ Hub for?\nEveryone is welcome! All members can join the session for coaching\, advice and discussion with fellow publishing people from across the industry. \n  \nThe Members’ Hub is a great space to think creatively. So even if you don’t have a particular topic you would like to discuss\, if you’re feeling stuck\, thinking about starting something new\, or need a sounding board\, this session is for you! \n  \nHow does it work?\nOnce everyone is in the Zoom meeting\, you’ll be invited to join smaller groups of up to 4 people. You’ll each get 15 minutes of focus time to talk about your career\, work\, project or idea – and for the group to offer informal coaching\, advice\, discussion and support. \n  \nAt the end of the session\, everyone will come back together as a group to wrap up the session and pose any final thoughts. \n  \nThe ground rules\nTo get the most out of the Ideas Hub session and ensure it runs smoothly we please ask you to: \n\nArrive on time – the Zoom meeting will be locked 5 minutes after the start time\nEnsure you are free for the duration of the session – out of respect for the other members in your group\, we ask that you don’t drop in and out of this one\nContribute during other members’ time – these groups will work best if everyone is involved\n\n

It’s often safer to invest in the more obvious options rather than jumping right in to get ahead of the curve. \n  \nBut what are the implications if we miss gaps in the market that start-ups and large tech companies are happy to fill? How can emerging tech play a role in discovery and enjoyment of content for the end user? How can we pivot and harness the potential of these new technologies? \n  \nJoin our panel of industry analysts and emerging tech experts for an aspirational session that will consider the opportunities and risks of emerging tech. They will share insights into the potential of areas like computer vision\, augmented and virtual reality\, AI\, big data and machine learning. We’ll also hear about publishers who are already moving up the adoption curve by trialling new technology. We hope to see you on Wednesday 12th May from 6pm BST! \n  \nTalking Tech this year takes place during Tech Season\, running from 26th April to 28th May 2021. \n  \nAbout BookMachine Unplugged 2021\nBookMachine Unplugged is an online and interactive programme of publishing events designed to offer real insights into what is working in publishing right now – and what the future of publishing may hold. \n  \nIf you’re a publishing professional who craves an explosion of knowledge\, ideas\, and personal development – in a strictly social and informal setting – this event series is for you! \n  \nEach of the six BookMachine Unplugged events programmed for this year will zoom in on a vital area of the publishing industry.
