If you have a passion for sourcing beautiful content from illustrators and photographic libraries and would like to apply your fantastic organisational skills to interesting educational projects then we think this role is for you.

Working closely with the design team the art buyers source beautiful photos, animations and other media, commission artists from all over the world and ensure our clients have the correct licenses and rights. Grub Street is looking for a startlingly original, gifted and experienced full-time designer to look after all their jacket and book designs for both the cookery and military aviation lists. Candidates must be completely skilled in Quark, Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as the design elements of the company website. You will also be responsible for marketing materials including catalogues and point of sale materials.

We are a small team of five and work in an informal but highly professional environment that can be pressured at times. We are seeking an energetic, proactive, hard working team player who will get stuck in, and who is calm under pressure and delivers work on time.

The position is based in our office on the edge of Wandsworth Common, and is a short walk from Clapham Junction station.

You will be responsible for developing and fostering relationships with key influencers in order to increase brand awareness and direct to consumer sales. The right candidate will be organized and meticulous at maintaining sales and contact records. Naturally outgoing, you will be able to increase our audience by building new contacts, ensuring that we have brand ambassadors who can recommend and share our titles to their audiences and our existing followers.

It is essential that you will:-

•Have at least two years of sales or marketing experience in a publishing capacity

•Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office software (knowledge of Adobe InDesign would be an advantage, but not essential)

•Be able to work as part of a team in order to maximize use of skills and abilities

•Be active on social media, capable of running several distinct platforms and understand how to get a brand message across to a wide audience

You will also assist the Asian sales team by sending out sales material and helping with trip/book fair preparation as required.

You will have all the organisational skills needed to efficiently multi-task in a fast paced environment, managing multiple projects, priorities and customers and be able to collaborate effectively with internal colleagues.  You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, good knowledge of Microsoft office and an interest in learning new skills.

Previous experience in Foreign Rights, International Sales or Production is desired and the ability to conduct business in Mandarin would be an advantage but is not necessary.
