BookMachine Briefing: Reading in the Age of Distraction

5 October, 2023 @ 4:00 pm - 4:30 pm BST

Free
Linda and Deborah 3

Join us on Thursday 5th October from 4:00 – 4:30pm BST / 11:00 – 11:30am ET as we speak with Linda Secondari, Design Principal of Studiolo Secondari and Deborah S. Bosley, Ph.D., Founder and Principal at The Plain Language Group, LLC, about the importance of plain language and ‘skimmable’ design in publishing.

We are all familiar with governmental requirements for plain language and accessible design online. These requirements, coupled with the ever-decreasing attention span of the average reader due to the influence of social media, create a perfect storm of conditions that will influence the expectations of readers going forward. These issues necessitate that publishers adapt their content to be easily understandable and engaging. The goal of this briefing is to identify how publishers can use plain language and effective design as essential tools to maintain the relevance and the likelihood their content will be read.

Who is this event for? This will be a great session for:

  • Academic Publishers
  • General Publishers
  • Marketing teams
  • Editors
  • Authors
  • Copywriters
  • Designers

This is an online event. Register in advance to receive your Zoom link to watch the live discussion. Closed captioning will be enabled. We hope to see you there!
