Tune into a live, book cover design focussed 30-minute virtual Wednesday Wisdom Q&A session on Wednesday 1st December from 1-1:30pm GMT with book cover designer and illustrator Micaela Alcaino.

 

During the Q&A, we’ll be finding out more about Micaela’s work as an award-winning cover and series designer, how some of her recent projects have come together, her top communication tips for ensuring the success of a design, where she finds the inspiration to inform her covers and the methods she uses to get the creative energy flowing.

 

We’ll also be opening up the session to audience questions in the last 10 minutes of the Q&A, so be sure to come prepared to find out more about Micaela and her amazing work. We hope to see you there!

MicaelaAbout Micaela

Micaela Alcaino is a book cover designer and illustrator who relocated from her home Sydney, Australia to London, UK in 2013. Selected as one of The Booksellers Rising Stars of 2021 she has almost a decade of experience in her field working for both Penguin Random House and HarperCollins, then venturing to freelance in 2018. She currently works on projects in collaboration with most of the big publishing houses worldwide. Some of her recent achievements include winning the Books Are My Bag Beautiful Book Award 2019 for The Binding by Bridget Collins and the ABCD Young Adult Book Cover Award 2021 for Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko. She has designed and illustrated titles such as Ariadne by Jennifer Saint, the Ember in the Ashes series by Sabaa Tahir, Careless by Kirsty Capes, and Pandora by Susan Stokes-Chapman. Her creative perspective has been shaped by her love of travel, her mixed cultural heritage and her appreciation of the fine arts.
