Publishing deal with Macmillan Children’s Books for Made in Me
Macmillan Children’s Books has acquired worldwide publishing rights to launch a brand co-created by author/illustrator Tom Percival and digital media company, Made in Me. The brand is called The Little Legend, and consists of four books set in the fictional world of Tale Town, home of Little Red, Jack (of the beanstalk fame), Princess Rapunzel, and Anansi (the spider of west African legend).
The books will be published in paperback and e-book formats by Macmillan Children’s Books and as an illustrated digital book on Made in Me’s Me Books platform.
The Spell Thief and the second book, The Great Troll Rescue, will be published in both formats in February 2016, further books will follow.
Children’s Publisher Venetia Gosling says, ‘The Little Legends series is a brilliantly innovative take on the fairy tale genre, allowing children to read about characters they know and love having brand new adventures. We are thrilled to be working with Tom and Made in Me on this exciting new younger fiction series.’
The books will be written and illustrated by Tom Percival, who is represented by Elinor Cooper at Rochelle Stevens & Co.
Little Legends marks a new phase for the development of Made in Me’s e- reading app, Me Books. Eric Huang, Development Director for Made in Me, explains: ‘Tom’s stories are one of the first original books to launch in our Me Books shop. We always saw Me Books as not just a digital bookshop but also a place where new stories and new brands can launch to a dedicated family audience from digital books to physical books, TV and toys – and beyond!’
