Paula Neary from Springer Nature joins Ribbonfish as CEO
Ribbonfish has appointed Paula Neary as its new CEO. The former Director of Business Systems at Springer Nature takes up a leadership role at the fast-growing publishing technology startup from March onwards, after leaving her previous post in early 2017.
Based in London and New York, Ribbonfish is aiming to expand its existing portfolio of global publishing clients through a new product range covering Investment Appraisal, Title Management, CRM and and Rights Management. Neary represents Ribbonfish at London Book Fair, between 13-16 March.
Managing Director and Founder, Marc Defosse commented:
“We’re delighted to welcome Paula to the Ribbonfish fold. We’ve known her for a long time, and I see her knowledge of publishing technology as unrivalled. It’s quite a feat for us, and we’re confident that her experience will further improve our position in the global publishing market.”
Neary has significant experience within the publishing industry, having started a career as IT Manager at Pearson Education, later moving to Random House as Director of Publishing Systems, and Director of Business Systems at Macmillan Science & Education – commanding the same role after the 2015 merger with Springer Science & Business Media which created Springer Nature.
With regards to the new position, Paula Neary says:
“It’s a thrill to join Ribbonfish. Swapping a role in a large publishing house for one in small, nimble organisation is both refreshing and challenging. I am really looking forward to expanding our consultancy services and developing our product roadmap with the aim of creating an industry leading product suite.”
This is such exciting news! After working with both Paula and Ribbonfish this is a great partnership and I can see only positive things will be achieved. Looking forward to seeing Ribbonfish grow and go from strength to strength. Such a loss for Springer Nature and I am sure they will miss Paula’s experience and leadership but lucky for Ribbonfish.Good luck to the team 🙂
This is an exciting development for Ribbonfish, who are certain to benefit from Paula’s extensive experience and leadership within publishing business systems. Having worked with Paula at various publishers over the last twenty years or so, her business knowledge and steady management are widely admired and will be a great fit in this dynamic and innovative environment.
