Startup snapshot: Reedsy

reedsy
Emmanuel Nataf is the CEO and Co-Founder of Reedsy, a community of publishing professionals creating amazing books. Here we interviewed him to catch-up with Reedsy developments.

1) What exactly is Reedsy?

Reedsy connects authors and publishers with the world’s best publishing professionals (the likes of Stephen King’s designer, Neil Gaiman’s editor or Walter Isaacson’s publicist) to create high-quality books. The company won The Bookseller award for the best publishing startup of 2015. Reedsy counts about 400 professionals, all coming from the best publishing houses, and over 10,000 authors.

2) What problem does it solve?

Before Reedsy, it was extremely hard for authors to find the top editors, designers or marketers to work on their book. Reedsy democratises the access to high-quality book publishing. It also brings transparency to an opaque and unstructured market, where too many scams still exist. Thanks to its amazing community of professionals, Reedsy now also offers services to publishers and will be releasing Reedsy for Publishers in April 2016.

3) Who is your target market?

Authors and publishers looking to publish high-quality books.

4) What results do you hope to see over the next few years?

The fact that anyone can get access to Reedsy should lead to the emergence of new business models, which will make publishers extremely relevant: in a world of abundance, we need more curators who know their audiences very well. This podcast about the Art of Curation is interesting in this regard.

5) What will be next for Reedsy after this?

Reedsy is a community of authors, professionals (editors, designers and marketers) and publishers. Guess who’s missing? 🙂
