Campaigns Assistant

Quintet Publishing, part of The Quarto Group, is looking for an Art Director to join their busy team based in central Brighton from January 2018.

The Quarto Group is the leading global illustrated book publisher; our mission is to educate, entertain and enrich the lives of our readers. Quintet creates non-fiction books across subject areas ranging from art and design to creative technology, travel and new adult. Our titles maintain the highest editorial, design and production standards, and we work with co-edition publishing partners all over the world.

We are looking to appoint a creative and enthusiastic Art Director who can drive the visual identity of Quintet’s successful list. You will be responsible for the creative output of up to 30 live books and 60 presentations annually, working closely with the editorial team to shape the look and feel of our titles. The successful candidate will ideally have broad experience of working in-house at Art Director or Senior Designer level, with an in-depth understanding of the illustrated book marketplace.

As well as managing a small team of in-house designers, the Art Director will brief and liaise with a large pool of freelance designers, illustrators and photographers. Developing design concepts and briefing layout work to an out-of-house team is an integral part of this role, as is a commitment to bringing projects in on time and within budget.

Experience/skills
• Ideally eight plus years in an illustrated publishing environment
• Bursting with design concept ideas
• Extensive contacts list (including freelance designers, illustrators and photographers)
• Experience of managing and motivating freelancers and junior staff members
• Commitment to meeting schedule and budget requirements
• Excellent InDeisgn and Photoshop skills
• Knowledge of co-edition publishing would be an advantage
