We are looking for a Sales Manager to join our small but perfectly blended sales and marketing team.

What on Earth! is a dynamic, independent publishing house based in London, Kent and Washington, D.C. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small but mighty publisher, and work in a collaborative and creative team.

What on Earth! publishes beautiful non-fiction that engages children’s natural curiosity and passion for learning.  We’re seeking a highly motivated Sales Manager to help drive our business forward and expand into new channels.

We are looking for an outgoing team player who is articulate, driven and with a proven track record in sales.  This might suit a sales executive looking to take the next step in their career.

Reporting to the Sales and Marketing Director in London, you will be responsible for…

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with our UK trade distributor, key trade partners and retailers
  • Managing Amazon accounts in UK, US and Canada
  • New business development opportunities and identifying opportunities for growth
  • Presenting key titles at conferences and meetings
  • Contributing to sales strategy, forecasting and acquisitions discussions
  • Setting sales budgets and reporting and analysing sales performance
  • Overseeing stock management, distribution and supply chain processes
  • Proactively feeding your expert market knowledge back into the team
  • Line management of Sales and Marketing Assistant

Requirements for this role:

  • 2-3 years’ proven experience in publishing sales
  • Strong commercial awareness and market knowledge
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Confident working collaboratively in a creative, fast-paced environment
  • A passion for publishing and demonstrable interest in working specifically in children’s books
  • A strong understanding of online sales platforms
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Commercial acumen and sales analysis skills
  • A can-do attitude and a great team player

What we can offer:

Hybrid working

We have a hybrid work structure. Employees are required to work at least 2 days per week in our central London office, with the remaining days working from home.  (Employees may work full-time in the London office if preferred.)

Benefits

We offer fully flexible working hours which can be scheduled around school picks-ups / appointments.

A free breakfast is provided twice a week at the London office.  We also have a fully stocked fridge of cold drinks which are available free of charge every day.

Flexible Fridays – employees may finish at 1pm on Fridays all year round.

Salary

£40,000–£45,000 per annum depending on experience

Holiday

24 days, plus bank holidays, rising to 30 days with additional years of employment.  We close the office in between Xmas and the New Year and no additional holiday days are required to be taken for this.
