Reports to: Commercial Finance Team

Location: HYLO, 5 Floor,103-105 Bunhill Row, London, EC1Y 8LZ

Working pattern: Working pattern: Hybrid – minimum of two days per week in the office; up to three days per week working from home

Department: Commercial Finance

Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum, dependent on experience + Study Support

General Summary

Bonnier Books UK is seeking a talented commercial finance analyst to join our Trade Division. In this role, you will provide financial reporting, commercial information and general business partnering support to our Adult and Children publishing divisions.

As a commercial finance analyst, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to gather and analyse financial data, identify trends, and develop recommendations to optimize business performance. You will be responsible for preparing financial reports, forecasts, and budgets, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial information.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, with experience in data analysis, financial modelling, and reporting. You will possess excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organization. A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving are also essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly and monthly financial reporting
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes
  • Assist business partnering and understand the business financial needs and support with sales and costs tracking
  • Review and report on previously published book performance
  • Assist in systems improvements to our business intelligence system
  • Support the royalties’ team with financial analysis and reconciliations
  • Identify and implement reporting improvements
  • Prepare the key monthly provision calculations on returns, stock and advances
  • Ensuring best practice and financial controls are followed
  • Support on annual audit requests
  • Contribute to ad-hoc analysis

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of financial modeling and forecasting techniques.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to convey complex financial information to non-finance colleagues and partners across the business and build strong working relationships.
  • Advanced Excel user (e.g. INDEX/MATCH, Conditional formatting, Power Query etc).
  • Experience in a finance-related role is welcomed.
  • Previous experience using PowerBI or other visualisation software would be an advantage.
