Overview

Newgen Publishing UK is a fast-growing publishing services company based in the UK. Part of the Newgen KnowledgeWorks group, we provide UK-based editorial and project management services to academic, education and ELT publishers, managing everything from concept to product delivery.

We are currently looking for a Portfolio Manager to come and work on our expanding list of ELT titles. This exciting and varied role will be vital to the company in continuing to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality print and digital projects for our customers. The role oversees a team of Project Managers working with various clients on both print and digital materials.

This is a full-time position for 9 months with the possibility of it being extended to 12. It would suit a candidate with previous publishing experience, who is looking to take their next step in the industry. Knowledge and experience of the ELT industry would be highly desirable.

£35 – 40k per annum depending on experience.

This is a remote position (home-based).

Responsibilities

  • To oversee the management of large programmes of work comprising multiple projects and to proactively manage one or more customer accounts.
  • To line manage in-house project managers and senior project managers, providing pastoral and project support, identifying training needs and enabling career development and progression.
  • Manage programme pipeline and liaise with the customer to gain sight of future work.
  • To schedule and manage the editorial stages of large-scale multi-component publishing products, typically from manuscript through to final files, including briefing and managing external suppliers.
  • To carry out account RFPs and track pricing and contracts of projects that fall within the programme.
  • Report on margin, vendor spend, team capacity at the programme level meetings as well as in production meetings.

Skills, qualifications and experience

  • Impeccable editorial, organisational and communication skills.
  • Previous publishing experience, particularly a good working knowledge of editorial processes.
  • Previous management experience would be an advantage.
  • Degree-level education (publishing qualifications an advantage).
  • Knowledge of international ELT products and markets would be useful.
