SPCK job

We are an award-winning Christian Publisher which produces a range of books from children’s stories to academic titles, and we are looking to complete our in-house sales team.

The successful applicant will contact UK and export accounts by phone and email to get orders for new and existing titles across a range of our own publishing lists and those of a range of other Christian Publishers.

  • You will respond to customer queries and liaise with our stock-holding warehouse as appropriate.
  • You will work as a member of a wider office and field-based sales team in conjunction with marketing and publicity colleagues to maximise sales reach.
  • You will monitor trends and prepare reports of sales information by title and by customer/region in order to analyse weaknesses and discover opportunities.
  • You will also from time to time help to organise, action, facilitate (and attend where necessary) exhibitions, conferences, events and festivals in order to increase our customer base and maximise sales.

You must be literate and numerate, able to communicate with all sorts of people, by a range of channels and methods, and proficiency with excel and persuasive writing skills are essential to the role. Ideally you will have around 2 years’ experience in a customer facing role in a publishing environment, but just as important is an enthusiastic personality and a willingness to learn and adapt to the changing retail landscape.

We offer a competitive salary (£24,000.00 /year) and other benefits, and the role is based at our central London office. This is a Full-time role.

Applications should be made in writing to jobs@spck.org.uk for the attention of the Commercial Director and should include your CV and a one-page cover letter about yourself and your suitability for the role.  Closing date for applications 1st March 2019.  Only candidates who are called to interview will be contacted, and early applications will be prioritised.
