Celebrate the festive season virtually with BookMachine at our Christmas Comedy event!

Join us on Zoom on Wednesday 15th December from 6pm–7pm GMT to connect, unwind and laugh with other publishing professionals and ring in the holiday season.

We’ll be joined by three fantastic comics – Mel Byron, Don Biswas and Capriella Hooper – who are sure to regale you with stories, scenarios and situations that will have you chuckling on the other end of the video screen.

You’ll also get the chance to meet and mingle with other attendees during the icebreaker before the comedy starts.

This event has been designed to bring you a fun, informal and friendly way of forging connections across the publishing industry and getting in to the festive spirit before 2022 arrives. We very much hope you can join us!

Both members and non-members are welcome to join us! Members can come along for free (be sure to log into your account or open up on the BookMachine App before booking your spot to get your discount!). Tickets are £3 +VAT for everyone else.

How the session will run

• 6:00pm Session opens and you can join the event!
• 6:05pm Join the icebreaker activity. Get into smaller breakout rooms and mingle with other guests with a conversation starter from Mel.
• 6:15pm The first comedy set begins! Join here if you would feel more comfortable skipping the icebreaker activity.
• 6:30pm We switch comics and take a break breather.
• 6:35pm Second set begins.
• 6:55pm End of the second set.
• 7:00pm Session wraps up and the Zoom event ends.

This is an online event and will be hosted using Zoom meeting. Live closed captions will be available if you are in the main room for the comedy sections, but captions are not able to be used within breakout rooms.

The closed captions will be generated by Otter.ai software, and may contain some imperfections where the AI is not able to distinguish some words. Overall, they are very accurate!

Meet the comics

Mel Byron travels the country with her witty middle-aged banter and is much in demand as an MC and host. She has performed at the Edinburgh, Manchester and Brighton Fringes. ‘May just make your day.’ (Scotsman)
