Tune into a live, inspiring Wednesday Wisdom Q&A codemantra on Wednesday 24th February, 1–1:30pm GMT.

Learn from leading UK accessibility expert Ben Watson and codemantra’s Director of Accessibility Platforms and Solutions Ian Smith as they discuss the benefits of accessible workflows and practical solutions to efficiently implement them.

During the session, we’ll be asking Ben and Ian about codemantra’s collaboration with the University of Kent’s Open Access journals team to produce accessible versions of their articles, showcasing the benefits for discoverability and impact that producing these versions bring, alongside making them truly accessible.

You can also ask your own questions about accessibility, production and workflows in the final ten minutes, so come prepared!

Ben WatsonAbout Ben

Ben is a highly experienced Information Professional with many years of experience throughout the education sector. Benhas been involved in the delivery of guidance that has become best practice advice by Universities UK, and has done significant work to improve the accessibility of the student journey from start to finish in Kent.

Ben has led many projects in the accessible information sphere one of which was recognised with a Times Higher Education Award for Outstanding Student Experience. He holds two master’s degrees in Information and Education and worked in a Kent collaboration that was one of the first to deliver a compliant accessibility statement for public sector bodies in the UK. Ben is a leading proponent of assistive technology (AT) as a mainstream technology and has led numerous campaigns to encourage the widest possible use of AT and conversion technologies to support access to education for everyone.

 

Ian SmithAbout Ian

Ian Smith is an experienced product manager with a demonstrated history of working in the content lifecycle industry and assisting organizations with digital document compliance strategies and remediation plans.

Ian has been a thought leader in document accessibility. He has advised private and public institutions to help them become compliant with various accessibility standards across various document formats. As part of this, Ian has collaborated with industry thought leaders in web accessibility and has successfully established a digital document accessibility platform and solution program within codemantra US, LLC.
