Inspiration for publishers in 4 cities
November 6. London, New York, Oxford and Brighton – Meet and collaborate with the most inspiring people in the publishing industry today.
A few people have asked, what’s with 4 events? Why on the same day?
We used to stagger events throughout the year, but have now realised that there’s a certain magic around the buzz of hosting them on the same day. From hosts being able to share tips to speakers in different cities realizing that they are part of the same event – it’s definitely a better way to do it.
This time we have some truly inspirational speakers involved, and are basing the event series around just that. Inspiration.
In New York, Joe Regal will be talking about his ambitious plans for Zola Books. Nearly three years on, Zola Books is about to come out of beta, and will shortly be partnering on a major initiative that will change the publishing landscape. Miral Sittar, who classifies herself as 1/3 engineer, 1/3 entrepreneur, 1/3 writer will be talking about the success of Bibliocrunch and what she has learned along the way. Jake McGraw from Refinery 29 will also be in the spotlight. He’ll be talking about what ‘mobile’ really means and how to package content in order to address every market.
Earlier on, in London we are super excited to hear what Rebecca Swift has to say. Rebecca is an inspiration for everyone involved in the visual aspects of book publishing. In one of her recent projects she worked closely with the Lean In team, and the result is over 3,000 images relating to the depiction of women, girls and the families. Want to know more?
The Oxford BookMachine crowd will be meeting Beth Cox. Beth is one of those inspirational ladies, with an eagerness to train others, and is co-founder of Inclusive Minds – a collective established to promote diversity and inclusion by working closely with publishers to change the face of children’s books. Charly Ford is the charming host and the Oxford regulars are just lovely! A guaranteed good night out.
CompletelyNovel are doing a brilliant job of promoting BookMachine Brighton, with Emlyn Rees as the inspirational speaker. Emlyn was first published at 25 years old, and had his second crime novel published a year later. Since then he has co-written seven comedies, including the number one Sunday Times bestseller, ‘Come Together’. Tickets are selling quickly, so grab yours whilst you can.
Finally, this wouldn’t all be possible without the support of our sponsors – Getty Images, Pubslush, CompletelyNovel, Atwood Tate and SpinelessClassics – thank you to you all!
If you haven’t already got early-bird tickets, they are still only £5 or $5 so get one while you still can.
