Publishing Training Courses in Oxford
This is a guest post from Donna Hutchinson. Donna is a recent graduate of Oxford Brookes’ MA Digital Publishing course. Since finishing the course, she has been working freelance for a number of projects including taking the lead on the social media marketing for the OPG’s publishing training courses.
Oxfordshire Publishing Group dinners are the place to be. They attract publishers from the largest publishers; OUP, T&F, Pearson; whilst including a healthy mix of CEOs of SMEs and freelancers. Plenty of food and wine gets consumed – and most importantly (for me!) they have resulted in the development of a new series of Publishing Training Courses.
The following courses have been picked for 2015, based on the real needs of member groups:
- Copyright Masterclass
- Try Programming
- Project Management
- Making Open Access Pay
- Finance for Non-Financial Managers
All of the courses are being run in Oxford in January-March of 2015.
The courses are supported by a grant from Creative Skillset. They have been set up by publishing-enthusiasts with demanding day jobs, who strongly believe that as an industry we need to keep our teams up-to-date.
The grant itself allows the OPG to run the courses at cost price in order to make sure that publishers of all sizes are able to take part. And with the success of the last course, Fusion Workshop, being re-run as Creative Entrepreneurship, we hope that these new, one-day courses will also garner the same interest and enthusiasm to ensure that publishers are able to get the best and most current training relevant to the industry today.
